Storage of America operates more than 20 self-storage facilities in five states

April 25, 2024: Storage of America, which operates more than 20 self-storage facilities in five states, is seeking zoning approval to convert a former Sears store in The Johnstown Galleria in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. The operator purchased the property at 500 Galleria Drive in an online auction last year. Though the site is zoned commercial, self-storage isn’t explicitly prescribed as an acceptable use. The zoning board held a public hearing this week to discuss whether a variance or special exception would be necessary.
