City council members in Joliet, IL have approved the proposal last week
December 8, 2014- The property has been empty for last seven years. It is located at 305 S. Larkin Ave. and is spread across 116,000-square-foot area. DealPoint Merrill is a real estate development and property-management firm and plans to construct 865 climate-controlled units into the storage project.
Councilwoman Jan Quillman told the source the storage conversion could help revive the area because the site is one of the first things people see as they exit Interstate 80 into the city. “It was such an eyesore,” she said. “Being one of the gateways into the city, I’m glad something is going to be in there and it’s going to look a lot nicer than what it is now.”
The self-storage in Joliet, IL will have amenities such as 24-hour access to storage units, a business center, shipping services, and truck rentals. The self-storage will also sell moving and packing supplies according to the sources. The facility will be managed by CubeSmart, a self-storage real estate investment trust.
