A part of self-storage was reconstructed as it was destroyed in a fire in November 2012
August 14, 2013- Building A was completely destroyed in the fire which blazed in November 2012. The entire building has been reconstructed and is open for customers. The layout of the storage facility remains the same as previous one.
The reopening event included free prizes, a hotdog lunch, and ice cream from Moonie Icy Tunes. Chain Lake Self Storage wanted to thank the community for helping them when in need. The visitors were allowed to bring non- perishable food items to donate to Sky Valley Food Bank. Chain Lake Self Storage collects items regularly for Sky Valley Food Bank.
"We just wanted to give something back. It is our way of saying 'thanks for hanging in there with us,'" said facility manager Cherie Churchill.
Both Churchill and Farmer were amazed at how supportive their customers were.
"Through that stressful time of losing their cherished belongings, people still asked how we were and if we were okay," said Farmer.
The damage was huge and had impacted the business. The customers were asked to temporarily relocate their items. The customers were allowed to see and tour inside the newly constructed self-storage building during the reopening event.
