California Self Storage Association (CSSA) will educate court officials about Lien Sale Amendment
May 22, 2012-CSSA has contacted Judicial Council of California after getting confirmed reports, that small-claims judges and commissioners are unaware of their expanded authority to hear self-storage lien suits.
Anne M. Ronan, an attorney with the AOC agrees that self storage operators may file in small-claims court to enforce liens under the Self-Service Storage Facilities Act, effective from Jan. 1, 2011.

“When we heard from our members that they were being turned away when taking their Declaration in Opposition to Lien Sale cases to small-claims court, we knew that we had to take action,” said Erin King, CSSA executive director.
CSSA was founded in 2002 and is dedicated to serve self storage operators in California. It has 450 direct member companies operating over 1200 self storage facilities. These direct members include self storage facility owners, operators, and multiple storage facility owners.
