U-Haul has more than 44 million square feet of storage space at its owned facilities throughout North America
December 13, 2016:
Established in the year 1945, U-Haul International Inc., which manages more than 1,300 self-storage
locations across North America, has recently acquired a vacant lot in Albuquerque, N.M., on which it plans to build a new facility.
The 5.41-acre property will feature a three-story building, a single-story building and two rows of drive-up units comprising 82,181 rentable square feet of storage space in 1,032 units. About 53 percent of the units will be climate-controlled.
The facility will also offer hitch installation and towing equipment, moving and packing supplies, and truck and trailer rentals. Propane sales will be added after the property opens, according to a press release.
"This property acquisition will give the Westside community a premium do-it-yourself moving option. There has never been a U-Haul-owned facility on this side of town," said Tom Neill, president of the U-Haul Co. of Northern New Mexico. "Most of the housing growth is happening here in the Westside community. We are excited to serve our future customers in this area.”
